The flag of the Guna Revolution adopted in 1925
The Guna people led a resistance movement in response to the oppression and colonial policies imposed by the Panamanian government.
The flag of the Guna Revolution has three horizontal stripes: the upper and lower stripes are red, while the central stripe is yellow. Above the yellow stripe, an inverted swastika is represented.
Each color of the flag has its own symbolic meaning: the red represents the blood shed by the Guna people in the struggle, the yellow symbolizes the natural and cultural wealth of the region, and the swastika represents a medicinal plant called aggébandur, used to obtain knowledge and pointing to the four cardinal points.
